Our Story: The Team Behind The Hive
The Hive is the work of the team at Funding for Good. Over the last 20 years, Funding for Good has built a thriving nonprofit consulting business. We’ve trained tens of thousands of nonprofit leaders, served thousands of nonprofit organizations, and helped countless nonprofits large and small make a difference in their communities.
Along the way, we made plenty of mistakes in our consulting business. But we also learned incredible lessons about what it takes to run a successful and impactful business.
So we set out to share what we learned (the hard way) with nonprofit consultants all over the country—and the world!
Today, we offer one-on-one coaching and intensive boot camp programs for nonprofit consultants at every stage of growth. In August 2023, we co-organized the second annual Nonprofit Consulting Conference Online—and we’re already planning in-person and virtual conferences for 2024.
Across this work, though, we realized something was still missing.
Nonprofit consultants need a community.
We need a place where strategy consultants, grant writers, and board development consultants can come together as peers. We need space to seed informal networks and formal collaborations. We need a place to share our challenges and our wins—and to seek advice from both experts and our peers.

We thought a lot about our monthly membership fee. From experience, we know that investing in yourself is a huge step for most nonprofit consultants. We’re trained to think of the mission and the impact first—and ourselves last.
At The Hive, we want to change that dynamic.

Here at Funding For Good we try hard to provide resources for everyone, at all stages of growth. Are there any types of nonprofit consultants who can’t join?
No! As long as you are a consultant serving nonprofit clients or starting a nonprofit consultancy, The Hive is your home.
What if I consult with nonprofit and for-profit organizations—can I still join?
Yes! As long as one or more of your clients are nonprofits, you are welcome in The Hive. Indeed, many nonprofit consultants we know serve not only nonprofits but also small businesses, government agencies, donors, and individuals. Just like us!
